How the map came to be
A short letter from the maker.
The map started the way most love letters do, with being in each neighbourhood, creating lasting memories. Most cities fade for those who leave, thinning into photographs, a souvenir gathering dust on a shelf, while for those who stay, a city's stories quietly disappear into routine, rarely paused upon. Belgrade refuses both fates: its neighborhoods and stories live on, permanent, on the wall of your home. It's decoration, yes; but it's more than that: a life lived, loved, and remembered, whether you carried this city with you, or never left its streets at all.
Boundless by lines, the city is mapped in blocks of solid type. The Sava traces a silent current to the Danube, their waters marrying beneath Kalemegdan's eternal, stone watch. In the fabric of the streets, Vračar binds itself into a tight knot, while Palilula reaches out into the northern expanse. Within these typographic borders, every neighborhood speaks.
The map comes in 10 colors, lovingly mailed to you. If you are scanning it off a wall somewhere in the city, thank you for letting it find you.
